Himachal Pradesh constable recruitment examination scam: Owner of printing press arrested from Ghaziabad

SHIMLA: An owner of a printing press in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh has been arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Himachal Pradesh in connection with a police constable recruitment examination paper leak case.

The arrest has been made in connection with an FIR registered at state CID police station in Shimla on May 7 this year.

Question papers of the examination were printed in Shailender Vikram Singh's printing press in March this year that were later leaked.

Director general of police (DGP) Sanjay Kundu said that Singh — belonging to Sector 2 in Vaishali in Ghaziabad — is the owner of Immense Solutions Private Limited in Sahibabad Industrial Area in Gaziabaad.

The DGP said that the SIT during the search of the printing press has recovered 12 mobile phones, one pen drive, 10 hard disks, three memory cards of CCTV cameras and other documents.

He said that mobile phones and other electronic gadgets recovered from the printing press have been sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory, Junga in Shimla for examination.

Call details records of recovered mobile phones are also being analysed and the bank account details of the accused were also being checked.

The accused was produced in the court of Shimla chief judicial magistrate from where he was sent on 14-day judicial remand.

On May 31, the SIT had arrested one Sudheer Yadav, who was working in the printing press of Shailender Vikram Singh.

On March 27 this year, over 75,000 candidates had appeared at the written examination for recruitment as police constables after clearing ground test, medical test and verification of documents to fill up 1,334 vacancies of constables.

After finding that the paper for the police constable recruitment examination conducted was leaked, the state government had cancelled the written examination.

While the CBI is yet to take over the investigation of police constable recruitment examination paper leak case, the Himachal Pradesh police have filed a third charge sheet in the case.

So far total 181 persons have been charge-sheeted in this case.

Even the role of police officers who were involved in the conduct of examinations is also being probed.

The SIT is probing the role of police officers while a board of officers is looking into the acts of commission by police officers if any in this case.
