Himachal Pradesh: Congress slams BJP rally, terms it wastage of public money

SHIMLA: After the cancellation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mandi visit, opposition Congress has mounted an attack on BJP by terming the rally a flop show.

State Congress president Pratibha Singh Yuva Sankalp Vijay rally of Mandi was an election rally and chief minister Jai Ram Thakur led government has misused the government machinery and spent crores of rupees. She said that the Prime Minister did not make any such announcement for the youth in his virtual address, which would have curbed the rising unemployment in the country.

Pratibha Singh, in a statement issued on Saturday, said that the State Government had spent crores for this rally of the Prime Minister, but the State did not get anything from it. She said that the BJP should apologize to the youth for the manner in which the unemployment figure has increased during the five years of the Jai Ram government and in the seven years of Modi regime. She said this figure has gone above 12 lakhs in the state, which is a matter of great concern.

She said that the Yuva Sankalp Vijay rally of the Prime Minister just before the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh was just a failed attempt to mislead the youth. She said that now the BJP will not get any political benefit from holding whatever rallies it wants in the state. She said that in the by-elections in the state, the BJP was completely defeated, and now they will face the same results in the assembly elections as well.

BJP state in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not come to Mandi due to bad weather, but he addressed the rally through virtual medium.

He said that the Prime Minister did not come but in spite of this, there was amazing enthusiasm among the youth workers of BJP. He said that BJYM workers raised slogans till the end of the rally and no one left the meeting place despite heavy rain. He claimed that over one lakh youth had attended the rally.
