Himachal Pradesh: Congress questions development in last 5 years, BJP says GOP vanishing

SHIMLA: Right before the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and opposition Congress have mounted an attack on each other.

Accusing the BJP government of doing nothing during the last around five years, Congress vice-president Naresh Chauhan has demanded chief minister Jai Ram Thakur place the report card of his government before the public.

BJP chief spokesperson Randheer Sharma said Congress party is going through a grave phase of nepotism in India and Himachal, adding, Congress leaders are getting suffocated under the current conditions of Congress party and are leaving the party.

Naresh Chauhaun, who is also the chairman of Congress' media department, said that after doing nothing all these years now the BJP government is announcing freebies foreseeing its defeat in coming assembly elections.

He said that if the government has worked for four-and-a-half years, the chief minister should prove it by seeking votes in the name of development.

He said that today, the employees of the state, unemployed youth, farmers and fruit growers are protesting on the streets and the government is not listening to anyone which proves that the chief minister does not have the courage to face people.

He said that there is huge resentment among people of state against the Jai Ram Thakur government.

He said that people have made up their mind to oust the BJP from power and now seeing his defeat in the elections, the chief minister is announcing to provide free facilities to the public.

BJP’s chief spokesperson Randheer Sharma said that in Himachal Pradesh, the BJP government has done more than its manifesto commitments.

He said that Congress has a leadership crisis at the national as well as the state level, adding, "Kapil Sibal, M Khan and Ghulam Nabi Azad are the latest examples".

He said that in Himachal Pradesh their sitting MLAs Pawan Kajal and Lakhvinder Rana have joined the BJP.

He said that it is a fact that the grand old party (Congress) is vanishing from the country.
