MANALI: Amid protests by the Congress, CM Jai Ram Thakur on Friday laid the foundation stone of super-speciality charitable hospital at Patlikuhl in Kullu district. The Hans Foundation Charitable Hospital, which shall have 60 beds in initial stage, is being built near Manali under the observation of Kunjlal Damodari Thakur Memorial Charitable Trust.
After the government land was transferred to the foundation, following permission from the Supreme Court and under FCA, the CM attended the ground breaking ceremony on Friday. "The foundation had made a contribution of Rs 500 crore during the Uttarakhand tragedy. It has also provided Himachal with 15 medical mobile units. Now this 60-bedded hospital will provide better health facilities to the people of the area," he said.
Protests, black flags and infighting in Congress
Congress functionaries and workers reached Patlikuhl to show black flags to the CM, cabinet minister Govind Thakur and others. They alleged that the government was not bothered about facilities in government hospitals and was encouraging private hospitals. Earlier, in a party meeting, AICC deputy in-charge of Himachal affairs Sanjay Dutt interrupted the Congress Seva Dal Kullu president Mahesh Sharma when he was putting forth his views. Sharma then stopped the speech and sat down. Later, the workers started leaving the meeting and they started shouting slogans against their own party leaders.
