CHAMBA: Consecutively for the second year, the international fame Minjar festival will be held symbolically in Chamba. While talking to TOI on Monday, Chamba deputy commissioner DC Rana informed that Minjar Mela would be inaugurated in a symbolic way on July 25 and the concluding ceremony would be held on August 1 while adhering to the Covid guidelines.
Traditional Kunjari Malhar, would be sung by the local artists everyday from July 25 from ‘kala kendra’ which would be set up in Chowgan.
In 2020, the Chamba administration had decided to do away with the processions and only did the ritual part of the traditional festival. The festival concludes with the immersion of Minjar (golden tassel worn on dress) in the river Ravi.
Rana said they would lay more stress on the cultural part and would connect it with the Chalo Chamba campaign aimed to promote tourism in the district. The deputy commissioner said that he had also sought suggestions from local people eom
