Himachal Pradesh: Car falls into Ravi river, three killed

SHIMLA: Three persons were killed in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh after the vehicle they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into the Ravi river on Saturday.

Their bodies were recovered on Sunday. The accident took place late on Saturday evening near Ghirdu on the Khadamukh-Holi road. After the mishap, a massive search operation was launched by a team comprising police and personnel of Atal Bihari Mountaineering Sub Centre.

According to district administration officials, a car carrying 3 persons of Ulansa panchayat fell into a deep gorge (Ravi river) between Khadamukh and Garola at around 6.30 PM on Saturday.

Naib tehsildar and SHO mobilised rescue tram form the mountaineering institute to reach the point where the vehicle had skidded off into the river. Low visibility, tough terrain and lack of divers delayed the operation until Sunday morning.
