SHIMLA: Before finalising its candidates for the coming assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, BJP on Sunday took the opinion of its workers on the probable winning candidates through secret ballot voting. For the first time such an exercise has been conducted by the party in the state. Voting was conducted by making district wise centres and the office bearers were asked to vote for the probable candidate having potential to win.
Secret ballot voting was conducted in all four Parliamentary constituencies of Shimla, Mandi, Hamirpur and Kangra covering all 68 assembly seats of state. The core group meeting of party is scheduled to be held in Delhi on Monday after which final decision on candidates is likely to be taken in the central parliamentary board meeting of party.
BJP state president Suresh Kashyap said that the assembly elections have been announced in Himachal Pradesh and BJP is also going to decide its candidates very soon. He said that BJP is an organization based political party and believes in democracy.
"This time for the selection of candidates, BJP is getting opinion from its workers to decide its most favoured candidates for the elections so that we have the support of the grassroots workers," he said.
He said that district meetings have been called by the BJP in all the four parliamentary constituencies on Sunday, for this BJP state office bearers, district, divisional office bearers, chairman, vice chairman, president of frontier organisations of BJP, general secretaries and winning candidates of Panchayati Raj institutions also participated in the voting exercise .
He said that the workers are giving their opinion to the party through ballot voting. He said that opinion is being collected at parliamentary level at all four parliamentary constituencies to get the feedback for every assembly constituency in Himachal Pradesh.
He said that this exercise is very important to take into confidence the opinion of BJP “karyakartas” to ensure that party candidates are in a comfortable winning position by the effort of all our organisation members who have penetrated at the grass root level.
