Hillwalker found dead after mountain fall in Highlands sparks helicopter search

A man has died after falling on a mountain in the Highlands .

The 70-year-old man, who is yet to be formally identified, was walking on An Teallach Sgurr Fiona near Dundonnell in Ross and Cromarty on Sunday when he fell.

Emergency services were called out a 1.35pm and the man's body was found by a Coastguard search and rescue helicopter.

Police Scotland North Highland area commander Chief Inspector Jamie Wilson said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this time and I would like to pass on my thanks to our colleagues at the Coastguard and also to the Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team who provided assistance.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course."
