Hillsborough campaigner Margaret Aspinall embraces Kenny Dalglish after Salah goal

On a poignant day there was still some joy to be had as ­Hillsborough campaigner Margaret Aspinall hugged Sir Kenny Dalglish after ­ Liverpool ’s goal against Chelsea .

The club’s former manager grinned yesterday as the chair of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, who lost her 18-year-old son James in the 1989 disaster, celebrated Mo Salah’s goal.

The Anfield club marked the 30th anniversary with a silent tribute before their 2-0 Premier League clash .

Fans revealed “96” and “30 years” mosaics and both teams wore black armbands.

On Monday, the city will come to a standstill in tribute.

Flags will be flown at half mast and a minute-long silence will be held at 3.06pm.

That was the time the FA Cup Final against Nottingham Forest was stopped at the stadium in Sheffield.

The town hall bells will chime 96 times to remember those killed by the crush.

Mersey Ferries will blast horns and traffic will be stopped for a minute at both tunnels under the river.

Liverpool players and staff will observe the 3.06pm silence, and families of those who died will gather for a memorial at Anfield.

Fans will also be able to sit on the Kop.

Banners featuring the 96 victims have been hung from St George’s Hall with the words “Never Forgotten”.

Ninety candles will also be lit on the steps.

Mayor Joe Anderson, who will lays wreaths with Lord Mayor, Councillor Christine Banks, said the city would “stand together in solidarity”.

This year, fex-Chief Superintendent David Duckenfield stood trial for gross negligence manslaughter but the jury failed to reach a verdict.
