Hillary Clinton thinks people who are anti-abortion can be feminist

Hillary Clinton may believe in a woman's right to choose when it comes to abortion rights, but she said that people who are pro-life can still be feminists.

Speaking during an appearance on "The View", the Democratic presidential front-runner tackled issues from her stance on abortion to her pop-culture preferences.

“Look, I've been, and I'm sure that Whoopi and Joy have been, we've been in these conversations now for, what, 40-plus years, right?" Ms Clinton said on the ABC program. "And I respect the opinions and beliefs of every woman. The reason why being pro-choice is the right way to go is because it is a choice and hopefully a choice that is rooted in the thoughtfulness and the care that women bring to this decision. So, of course you can be a feminist and be pro-life.”

Abortion continues to be a divisive issue on the campaign trail and Republican front-runner Donald Trump made waves last week when he appeared to suggest that woman who have had an abortion should be punished. Mr Trump quickly recanted the statement. He was blasted by Democrats and Republicans alike for the suggestion.

Apart from her comments on feminism on "The View", Ms Clinton talked music, television shows and George Clooney, whom the former secretary of state said is her celebrity crush.
