March 10--Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton will bring her campaign to Illinois on Thursday evening with a get-out-the-vote rally in north suburban Vernon Hills.
Her visit comes two days after her husband, former President Bill Clinton, campaigned on Chicago's West Side and in Evanston for the former first lady, senator and secretary of state.
The event is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. at the Sullivan Community Center at 635 N. Aspen Drive.
Hillary Clinton, who was born in Chicago and raised in Park Ridge, is making her first trip back to the area since hosting a rally last month in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood and attending fundraisers.
She is being challenged for the Democratic nomination by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who defeated her in Michigan's primary Tuesday. Even with the win, her campaign said Wednesday it was confident she would continue to rack up delegates to secure the nomination.
Sanders earned 65 delegates to 58 for Clinton in Michigan. But she also won Mississippi on Tuesday, earning 29 delegates to just four for Sanders. Overall, including superdelegates, she has 1,221 delegates to 571 for Sanders, according to a New York Times estimate, with 2,383 needed to win nomination.
