Hillal Soudani hints his Nottingham Forest spell could be coming to an end

Striker Hillal Soudani appears to have strongly hinted his time at Nottingham Forest is coming to a close.

The Algerian was pictured arriving at Athens International Airport yesterday as he looks set to complete a move to Greek giants Olympiacos.

Reports suggested Soudani was flying in to undergo a medical ahead of putting pen to paper, with a deal potentially confirmed this week.

And the forward himself seemed to suggest he was preparing for a fresh start away from the City Ground.

“I am very happy to be here in Greece and I think it will be a beautiful experience,” he said upon landing in the country, according to Sport 24.

Joining the fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club would see Soudani’s time in the Garibaldi brought to an end after just 12 months.

He made the switch to the Reds from Dinamo Zagreb last summer, signing a three-year contract.

But although he got off to a good start for his new team, scoring twice in his first four outings, he soon found his campaign hampered by injury.

A knee problem sidelined him for a couple of months early on, and a reoccurrence of the injury - during the Carabao Cup defeat at Burton Albion in October – ruled him out for the rest of the season.

He has since undergone a long period of rehabilitation, including spending time at the Aspire Centre in Qatar.

In total, the 31-year-old made eight appearances last term and was unable to add to the strikes he bagged against Reading and Wigan Athletic.

If Soudani’s move goes through – and if he is fit enough to make a comeback - he could soon line up against Forest.

The two teams are set to meet in a pre-season friendly at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium next month while Martin O’Neill’s side are on a training camp in Greece.
