Hillal Soudani has his say on transfers between Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos

Striker Hillal Soudani has given his views on switching between Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos – the two clubs owned by Evangelos Marinakis.

Soudani’s year-long stay at the City Ground came to an end last week, when he put pen to paper for the Greek giants.

Last year, Karim Ansarifard made the move in the opposite direction, while Olympiacos have this summer also been linked with Joao Carvalho, Claudio Yacob and Yohan Benalouane.

But Soudani says Marinakis’ association does not mean transfers between the two teams are inevitable.

And he adds he enjoyed his short time on the banks of the River Trent, despite being restricted to just eight appearances due to a knee injury.

“It is true that he is the same owner for both teams, but that does not mean everyone is going to Forest or the other way around,” he told Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti, in a translated interview.

“Simply, Olympiacos called me, I felt this was a great opportunity for me and accepted the offer.

“Also, it is not about a loan or anything else, Olympiacos bought me. I signed up for two years and I’m a full player of the Greek club.

“I want to say this too, I was briefly in Nottingham, but everything was great. The fans now send me messages complaining that I have left and wishing me luck.

“I am always happy to know that, even though I was only briefly there, I have good memories and the fans remember me.”

The front man says he has actually been the subject of interest from Olympiacos before, when he was still at Dinamo Zagreb.

“Olympiacos wanted me three years ago,” he said. “I was at Dinamo Zagreb and went to discuss the possibility of going there.

“However, then Dinamo entered the Champions League; we played in the strongest competition, so I did not think too much and agreed to stay.

“But now, when the offer came, I did not even think too much. This time I decided to accept it.”
