Hill wants AFL trade from GWS to Essendon

Contracted GWS speedster Bobby Hill wants out of the Giants and has nominated Essendon as his preferred new AFL home.

The 21-year-old, who has another year left on his deal at the Giants, is adamant on moving to Victoria to be near his cousin, St Kilda's Bradley Hill.

After being taken by GWS at pick 24 in the 2018 draft, Hill has played 30 games, including 17 this year, for 25 goals.

The Bombers will need to give up something worthwhile for GWS to consider offloading the talented forward.

Essendon would be extremely unlikely to part with their first-round draft selection, which currently sits at pick 11, so would instead have to throw up a player or a future pick to satisfy the Giants.

It will be among a number of deals that could be completed before the end of the trade period on Wednesday night.

GWS are attempting to bring tall Rory Lobb back to the club, three years after the talented, but inconsistent, tall headed west to Fremantle.

Lobb is not the only ruckman set for a move with Hawthorn's Jon Ceglar, Port Adelaide's Peter Ladhams, Collingwood's Mason Cox and Geelong's Darcy Fort garnering interest.

The Cats are hopeful of securing Ceglar, which would then allow Fort to be traded to the Brisbane Lions.

Sydney have been in talks about trading for the contracted Ladhams, after the Power gave the all-clear for the 23-year-old to meet with rival clubs.

But the Swans are destined to lose emerging defender Jordan Dawson, who has requested a trade to Adelaide after enjoying a career-best 2021 to finish third in the club's best-and-fairest.

After the Swans knocked back the Crows' initial offers for Dawson, Adelaide could instead pick up the 24-year-old in the pre-season draft.
