Hilary Duff hopes to "impress" her gay fans with her new music.

The 38-year-old star is getting ready to put out new music, and she doesn't want to disappoint her loyal fans.

Hilary told Variety: "We’re getting something really soon. I have been hard at work in the studio with my husband [Matthew Koma] and a few other amazingly talented people.

"[My fans] are going to hear something so soon, like in the blink of an eye."

Hilary hasn't released an album since Breathe In. Breathe Out. in 2015, but she always planned to make another record.

She shared: "I always knew I was going to return to music.

"I needed to feel safe and I needed to have the right people in my corner and be absolutely 100 percent ready.

"Honestly, I needed to have 10 years of life under my belt. I needed a lot to say. This album feels like the inner workings of my brain and I really am so excited to connect with people again on that level, that very forward-facing level."

Hilary ultimately hopes to impress her gay fans with her new material.

She said: "You know it’s all for them. It’s just to impress them."

In September, it was announced that Hilary will star in an intimate docuseries about her return to music.

The pop star signed to Atlantic Records ahead of her highly anticipated return to music, and the docuseries will explore the highs and lows of Hilary's long-awaited comeback.

The docuseries will chronicle the blonde beauty's "long-awaited musical return and personal journey, offering an unfiltered vignette into Hilary’s world. Embracing the ups, downs, and everything in between, fans will ride shotgun as she balances raising a family, recording new music, live show rehearsals, and preparing to perform on stage for the first time in over a decade."

The project is being directed and executive produced by the Grammy-nominated Sam Wrench, who previously helmed Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, and A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter.

Sam's docuseries will feature stylised interviews, performances, and videos from Hilary's personal archive.
