Thousands of pounds has been raised to give a "hilariously funny" dad the "send-off he deserves" after he was killed by an HGV.
Martin Gregory was hit by a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) at around 11.15pm on Princess Way in Seaforth on Wednesday, January 11. Merseyside Police confirmed the death, with the force later revealing a 52-year-old man from Skelmersdale has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving and taken to a police station for questioning.
Since the death, a GoFundMe has been set up to raise money to go towards the funeral of the dad, with £3,000 already raised at the time of writing. Organised by Jack Rutherford, the fundraising page said: "On Wednesday 11th January our beloved Martin was involved in a tragic accident that unfortunately, he didn't survive.

"Martin Gregory was a loving father to his son James who he adored, as well as a son, brother, uncle, cousin, godfather and friend.
"Those that knew Martin always had a story about him, often involving something daft or hilariously funny. It was his sense of humour and helpfulness with the right amount of silliness that made him the character he was and he'll be sadly missed.
"Martin had a passion for the gym and loved to keep himself fit. He was also a source of motivation during lockdown when he released some workout videos to help those struggling with the restrictions.
"We would like any funds raised to go to Martin's family to help them to use as they see fit. I hope we can enable enough generosity to achieve that and give Martin the send-off he deserves. Funeral arrangements will be shared once confirmed. Thank you."
