Hilarious moment man finds out Edinburgh fireworks are cancelled live on TV

This is the hilarious moment captured on Sky News when a man finds out the Edinburgh fireworks are cancelled while waiting for them on Princes Street on Hogmanay.

The unidentified men from Fife were speaking to Sky News reporter James Matthews about their New Year plans when they were told that the celebrations had been cancelled.

The gentlemen were being interviewed on Princes Street by Sky News ahead of Hogmanay last night. Despite all New Year celebrations being cancelled in the capital many still ventured out to bring in the new year.

The hilarious footage has gone viral with many shocked that the two guys had absolutely no idea.

Footage shows the presenter approaching the two men, asking: "How are you doing? Are you based locally?"

The first man replies: "We're from Fife, but we normally come down to Edinburgh quite a lot as well."

They are then asked: "What were you expecting tonight?"

And one of the men replies saying "fireworks" before laughing.

The presenter asks: "Did no one tell you it was cancelled?"

The man, shocked, replies: "Oh, are they cancelled?"

Laughing, the reporter says: "It's not breaking news, lads. It happened a week ago!"

The First Minister urged people to stay at home amid rising Omicron cases putting in restrictions that limit large crowds at events and closing night clubs for the next three weeks.

The latest Public Health Scotland figures shows the death toll in the capital city for the month of December and reveal that new cases of Covid-19 are now surpassing the peak of the Delta variant.
