Hilarious moment boy does Ronaldo impression during serious broadcast about Gatwick 'pandemonium'

A boy doing an impression of Cristiano Ronaldo brought a moment of comedy to the BBC’s coverage of pandemonium at Gatwick Airport.

Paul Clifton, the broadcaster’s transport correspondent, was describing the scenes when a young boy did an impression of the Juventus football star’s jump celebration behind him.

Mr Clifton said: “To describe it as pandemonium is something of an understatement.”

He spoke of people being unable to sit down and huge queues for coffee and the helpdesk.

As he spoke about those behind him, he said: “The people walking behind me, some of them are giving up and going home, some of them are travelling in hopefully.”

At that point, a boy in a grey jumper and tracksuit bottoms, runs into the top left of the screen and jumps up.

He spins as he turns, then lands in Ronaldo’s signature fashion with his legs apart and arms triumphantly by his side.

He let out a “whoo” during the impression, then looked left at the camera, before strolling away.

The drones have caused issues at the airport since 9pm Wednesday and will see the runway closed until at least 4pm on Thursday.

Gatwick said in a statement: "Gatwick Airport's runway remains unavailable because of drone sightings.

"We are prioritising the welfare of passengers during this very difficult time, and have teams across the airport looking after them as best we can.

"We anticipate disruption to continue throughout the day and into tomorrow."
