Hillal Soudani completes move from Nottingham Forest to Olympiacos

Striker Hillal Soudani has completed a move from Nottingham Forest to Olympiacos.

The Algerian has joined the Greek giants, who, like the Reds, are owned by Evangelos Marinakis, for an undisclosed fee.

Soudani had flown into Athens earlier in the week to undergo a medical and finalise contract details, bringing an end to his year-long stay at the City Ground.

The 31-year-old managed a total of just eight appearances in the Garibaldi, having joined from Dinamo Zagreb last summer on a three-year deal.

He found the back of the net twice in his first four outings, scoring against Reading and Wigan Athletic, but then saw his season disrupted by injury.

He was sidelined for a couple of months with a knee problem and then suffered a reoccurrence of the issue during the Carabao Cup defeat at Burton Albion in October, which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

If he has fully recovered, Soudani’s move means he could soon be lining up against his former teammates.

Martin O’Neill’s side are due to play Olympiacos at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium next month as part of their pre-season programme.

Although giving little away when he landed in Greece earlier this week, Soudani had hinted at his Forest departure, saying: “I am very happy to be here in Greece and I think it will be a beautiful experience.”
