Highly-rated defender makes EFL switch as Rangers miss out on top summer target

Dundee have confirmed highly-rated defender Luke Graham has joined Stoke City for an "undisclosed club-record fee".

The 22-year-old defender leaves Dens Park after making 40 appearances in the 2025/26 season, winning both the club’s Young Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards.

Graham had previously been linked with a move to Rangers during his time at Dundee, with the Ibrox side looking to build a Scottish core this summer.

A Dundee academy graduate, he had loan spells at Lochee United, Albion Rovers, Montrose and Falkirk before making his Dundee debut against Annan Athletic in July 2024.

His recent form earned Scotland Under-21 recognition and a place in the senior squad’s pre-World Cup training camp in May, where he was named on the bench for the friendly against Curacao.

Speaking to club media, Graham said, “Dundee has been massive for me. I wouldn’t be sat here if it wasn’t for Dundee taking a chance on me as a young kid coming through the academy.

“I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone around the club, all the supporters, all the teammates and everyone I’ve worked with.”
