Highland Folk Museum to host Outlander day for fans to enjoy

The Highland Folk Museum is set to host a special day for all fans of the hit show Outlander, old or new. The event, which takes place next month will feature demonstrations, costume competitions and even a visiting redcoat.

Teaming up with local fan group Inverness Outlanders, the museum in Newtonmore in the Cairngorms National Park will host the special event for fans on Saturday, September 10.

A post from the official museum account on social media read: "Experience an authentic 18th-century township from the era of Jamie and Claire. See traditional skills such as the pole lathe, try dressing up and meet the inhabitants of our township including a visiting redcoat.

"There will also be demonstrations of spinning, weaving and dying.

"Don't miss our local waulking group in action as well as our costume competition, a great day out for all Outlander fans!"

The event will run from 11 am until 4 pm and they say there is no need to book, people can just come along and join in on the fun.

Entry for the event itself is free, however, the museum will happily accept donations.

Britain’s first open-air museum, the Highland Folk Museum allows people to step back in time and experience life in the Highlands from 1700s to the 1950s.

They have over 35 historical buildings onsite for history fans to explore and discover how people in the Highlands lived, worked, went to school, and enjoyed their leisure time.
