Highguard release date, platforms, gameplay, more

Highguard is an upcoming free-to-play title from Wildlight Entertainment, which was founded by 61 devs behind Titanfall and Apex Legends.

Highguard was announced at The Game Awards 2025, and it’ll be a PvP raid shooter where you’ll play as Wardens, who are arcane gunslingers blending guns, spells, and mobility on a mythical continent. You can expect team-based raids where crews clash for the Shieldbreaker artifact, smash enemy shields, summon siege engines, and raze bases to claim turf.

It will hit on multiple platforms simultaneously, and gameplay packs wall-running, wall-busting for new paths, unique Warden skills like knife throws or heart-ripping, and mounts for fast traversal between objectives. Here’s everything you need to know when Highguard releases and what platforms it will be available on.

Highguard will release globally on Jan. 26, 2026. At the time of writing, this is the scheduled release date, and no delays or phased rollouts have been mentioned yet.

This means it’s just a few weeks from TGA 2025 announcement, showing how polished it already feels from the trailer. The devs haven’t announced any official release time yet. Once they do that, I will update the section here.

Assuming a midnight release, here’s a countdown for you:

All platforms you can play Highguard on

Highguard will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. The devs haven’t announced any last-gen support or mobile ports yet, and it’s unlikely that it will happen.

Apex Legends has full cross-play support between PC and consoles, so we can expect the new PvP shooter to have the same, allowing both PC and console players to party up together, as it’s also a free-to-play title.

Highguard gameplay details

Coming to the gameplay, you can picture Titanfall‘s flow but with a flavor of fantasy, where you can dash across walls, blast barriers to flank, hop mounts to chase objectives, battle rival crews for Shieldbreaker control, breach their shield, call in a colossal siege beast, and then wreck their base.

Wardens bring class flavor, mixing gunplay with spells for chaotic teamfights. It’s all PvP raids, with no solo extraction grind, which means the emphasis is heavy on squad strategies.

Highguard feels fresh by ditching battle royale fatigue for focused raids, where every match builds toward territorial domination. It has polished movement and balance from day one, like Apex Legends, but with medieval magic. If you’re into fast-paced shooters with replay value, this could be your next daily grindfest.
