Highest 1-day hospitalisation of Covid positive in Mumbai in over month

MUMBAI: The city on Friday registered the highest number of Covid-19 hospitalisations in a single day in more than a month. As many as 38 people were admitted to Covid hospitals on Friday, a sharp rise from a daily average of 20-22 seen in the past few weeks.

Mumbai has also registered more than 400 positive cases daily for the past three days. The city's positivity rate has touched 4.3%. Dr Balkrishna Adsul, in-charge dean of SevenHills Hospital, said they continue to see a steady trickle of admissions in the range of 10-15 daily and added that they haven't seen an unusual rise yet. "Majority are elderly with comorbidities who land up testing positive for Covid while undergoing treatment for some other illness," he said.

The state has also seen a marginal rise in cases on Friday. In Maharashtra, 2024 new cases were reported. There were also five deaths. Active cases, however, has seen a drop in the state. It came below 12,000-mark (11,906) in the state. Mumbai currently has 2,391 active cases.
