Police have appealed for information after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death in an Islington park.

Officers were called to the stabbing in Highbury Fields shortly before 9pm on Thursday, and found the boy with stab wounds.

He was treated by medics before being taken to hospital where he sadly died a short time later.

Police have launched a murder probe and on Friday issued an appeal for information.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke said: “My team is working hard to piece together the schedule of events that led to this tragic loss of a young life, but we still need information from people who saw what happened.

“Were you there? Did you capture any footage? Do you know who was responsible for the attack on the victim?

“Even if your information seems insignificant, please do the right thing and share what you know.

“If you don’t want to speak directly to police, Crimestoppers, they won’t even ask you for your name.

“A young life has been brutally ended and a family is struggling to come to terms with their loss – if you can help please don’t hesitate.”

Scotland Yard said the boy’s next-of-kin were aware. No arrests have been made.

Detectives can be contacted directly on 020 8345 3865.
