A number of high value dogs have been seized by gardai responding to reports of alleged animal cruelty in south Dublin.
The pups were taken into care yesterday following a multi-agency search of a premises in the Ballybrack area.
Dun Laoghaire officers were assisted by reps from Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, the DSPCA and Revenue during the raid.
Pictures from the scene shared by gardai on social media following the search show at least six bulldogs being kept in small cages on the premises.
Gardai said: "On the 14th December 2020, following reports of animal cruelty in the Ballybrack area, Gardaí from DMR (East) Division (Dun Laoghaire), along with reps from the DLRCC, DSPCA and Revenue carried out a search of a premises.
"A number of high value animals were located and seized. Investigations are ongoing."
Earlier today it was revealed that three adorable puppies who were allegedly stolen were recovered after a car was searched in south Dublin.
The car was stopped by gardai in Ronanstown, who discovered the Dachshund puppies in the boot.
Gardai are now hoping to reunite the dogs, who are all a light brown/golden colour, with their owners.
They said: "Ronanstown Gardaí stopped a vehicle acting suspiciously and subsequently discovered 3 allegedly stolen Dachshund puppies in the boot. If you have any info on the owners of these puppies please contact Ronanstown Gardaí on 01 666 7700."
