Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and information after a blaze at Glasgow's High Street.

Emergency services raced to the scene at around 1.35am this morning (May 4) at the derelict premises above the Old College Bar on High Street.

At the height of the blaze there were 40 firefighters working on the scene, where the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and officers remain. We reported live from the scene on our Facebook page which you can see here.

Nobody was injured as a result of the fire but it has caused significant damage to the building.

“Anyone with information that could assist our investigation should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0119 of 4 May. Alternatively a report can be made to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
