High street fashion brand Mango is making a return to Manchester

Fashion brand Mango is finally making its return to Manchester, two years after closing its Market Street store.

Hoardings have gone up in the city centre to advertise the imminent opening of a new shop, though its launch date has yet to be confirmed.

It will be taking over the two-storey former New Look site at the Primark end of Market Street, next to Pure Gym.

It's good news for fans of the Spanish brand, which often draws comparisons to Zara thanks to its modern aesthetic.

Mango still had a concession within House of Fraser on Deansgate, but hadn't had its own shop front for almost two years.

The clothing retailer shut its original site, citing 'company strategy' back in April 2018.

It will be opening opposite Uniqlo , which opened last year in the old BHS unit, triggering long queues of shoppers.

The opening will also provide several retail job opportunities - Mango is recruiting store managers, supervisors, sales advisors and stockroom assistants currently through its website.

Mango was founded in 1984 by brothers Isak Andic and Nahman Andic, and now has an extensive network of stores globally.

The nearest shop to Manchester until this new opening has been Leeds.
