High fire risk warning in place as firefighters battle multiple fires in Dublin

A high-risk fire warning is in place as the brave crew of the Dublin Fire Brigade is battling multiple blazes across the capital.

An orange alert has been issued by the Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine as temperatures are set to jump to a scorching 27C.

The warning, which will be in place until 12 pm next Friday, reads: "We have issued an Orange Forest Fire Warning arising from weather patterns and expected level of risk, and forest visitors should not use barbecued or light fires."

Firefighters and the Irish Air Corps have been tackling the wildfires on Howth which have been burning for weeks.

A spokesperson for DFB said on Twitter: "@IrishAirCorps are assisting in the #Howth wildfire again this afternoon.

"For everyone's safety they have asked that all drones/UAVs in the area are landed.

"Please be aware that we will still be driving our fire appliances in the area ferrying water."

They later added: "Firefighters are maintaining a fire break which was created about 30 meters from houses.

"The priority at the #Howth wildfires is to protect homes and vital infrastructure.

"The deployment of Firefighters and resources is reviewed constantly."

Firefighters from Balbriggan also rushed to bring a grass fire under control at Jugback Lane earlier today.
