High expectations for this £600k Notts farmhouse as it goes to sealed bids

It isn't that often that a house will go to sealed bids.

But traditionally when there is particular interest in a property the agent may decide that it will go to sealed bids. This means that anyone interested in making an offer on the house should do so, in writing, by a particular time and then the seller will choose the best bid - it's a kind of auction.

This former farmhouse in Rempstone is a prime example.

The six/seven-bed detached dates to 1809 and has been improved by the current owners.  It offers a mix of character features - including heavily beamed ceilings, original doors, fireplaces and vaulted cellars - as well as improvements such as re-roofing and replacement windows. It has also been re-pointed.

However, the agent does add that the Grade II listed farmhouse 'generally needs upgrading and modernisation and offers a superb project for those wishing to restore a large period farmhouse to their own taste and specification.'

Richard Harrison, director and residential valuer at Bentons Estate Agents says: "This is usually how we handle properties like this that we anticipate a large amount of interest in. We expect multiple viewings and multiple offers on properties like this, given the rarity of its type and situation."

The agent has put a guide price on the house of offers over £600,000 with all offers invited, in writing, by noon on Friday, June 7, 2019.

Accommodation includes a reception hall, a vaulted cellar, two reception rooms (a sitting room with wood burning stove and original marble surround and a living room with open fronted fireplace). There's a farmhouse kitchen with original inglenook fireplace housing an oil fired Aga, plus a scullery/utility room and WC.

An elegant Georgian staircase takes you up to the first and second floor bedrooms - there are potentially seven bedrooms plus a bathroom

Outside, while the substantial original barns to the farm were previously converted and sold some years ago, the farm retains a completely private garden and orchard extending to around 0.67 acres with stunning open views to the south, east and west.

There's also a driveway, garage/store, fuel store, and gardens plus a large area of land which was formerly temporary buildings which would now provide an ideal location for stabling, barn or other agricultural buildings if required.
