VIJAYAWADA: The high court on Monday pulled up the state government for filing an appeal petition to allow construction of village secretariat and rythu bharosa kendra (RBK) on land categorised as waterbody.
Wondering how the government can file such a petition to allow encroachment of waterbody, the court took suo moto cognizance of the issue as a PIL and said it will give orders in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines to protect waterbodies across the state.
One G Venkata Ramana Murthy had moved the HC challenging the construction of village secretariat and RBK in an extent of 0.16 acres in survey number 5341 at Ampolu village in Srikakulam district.
