'Hiding' teen found in brambles after armed police chase ends in play park

A car was dumped in a play park after armed officers chased a driver through Kirkby.

The Fiat Stilo was chased across the town after the driver refused to stop for a police patrol in the Northwood area.

The vehicle crashed into a parked car while making off from police "at speed"  in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It was then driven off road before being abandoned in the children's playground area of Mill Dam Park.

Searches of the surrounding area led Merseyside Police's dogs unit to a teenager thought to have been "attempting to hide" in thick brambles nearby.

The 18-year-old, from the Tower Hill area of Kirkby, was taken into custody for questioning on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop after a crash.

No damage is believed to have been caused to the play park as a result of the incident.
