Hidden gem woodland with 'magical crashing waterfalls' a short drive from Liverpool

A woodland less than an hour away from Liverpool has been described as a hidden gem with 'magical crashing waterfalls'.

If you’re looking for some peace and tranquillity that’s not too far from home, Fairy Glen near Parbold Hill in Appley Bridge might be the perfect place. The tucked away treasure in West Lancashire is popular with visitors for its waterfalls, woodlands and cliff faces.

With a rating of 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor, many people have taken to the website to share their praise for the beauty spot after their visit. Many users have described Fairy Glen as 'magical' while praising its scenery. One review said: "It's a well hidden getaway close to a fast main road. If you're brave enough to take on the challenge of crossing said road then you may be lucky and chance upon some fairyfolk.

"Follow the paths deep into the valley, past witch's hovels and lazy streams that lead to the magical crashing falls of Fairy Glen. Great for dog walking or just letting your little ones explore nature. In spring there is wild garlic and piles of crunchy leaves in autumn. You never know what you might find at the bottom of Fairy Glen."
