Hidden gem pub in Carrington announces 2 week closure after customer numbers decline

A popular hidden gem of a pub in Nottingham has temporarily closed as it struggles with the current climate.

The Gladstone is a real ale venue situated 'off the beaten track' in Carrington's Loscoe Road.

As well as a traditional lounge bar complete with darts board, it also houses a sports bar and award-winning garden.

Despite its popularity with punters across the county, the pub said it has been seeing customer numbers decline.

Just as Tier 2 appears to be taking hold of the hospitality industry and Tier 3 looms, the team announced on Facebook it would be shutting the doors for two weeks

The post read: "To all our loyal customers.

"It is with great sadness that we have taken the decision to close The Gladstone for two weeks.

"The current situation and the reduction in the number of customers we are seeing is making it very difficult for us to keep going.

"Our doors will close: Saturday 17th October at 10pm and will reopen: Sunday 1st November at 3pm.

"We will continue to trade for as long as we can but will need the continued help and support of our amazing customers.

"The Gladstone Team"

Businesses spoke of the eerie streets in the city on the first weekend of the new restrictions, while Nottinghamshire's famed Castle Rock Brewery has said it is 'on the verge of breakdown' after 45 years.

The Prime Minister and Health Secretary confirmed talks would be ongoing regarding changes to Nottinghamshire's tier level.
