Hidden down a rural country lane in Wirral is a welcoming café serving a variety of hot and cold food and drinks, including alcoholic beverages.
Strawberry Moon in Thurstaston is a short walk from the beach making it the perfect place to visit after a coastal walk or a day relaxing on the sand during Summer.
The café has plenty of tables indoors with a variety of cosy seating and a log burner to warm you up if visiting in Winter.

Strawberry Moon also has a very large outdoor seating area perfect for the Summer months, with some of the tables covered by shelter if you prefer eating outside even when the weather isn’t great.

We visited the café on a Tuesday afternoon and were greeted warmly by a waitress who let us select our own table.
We chose a small table with two leather armchairs that were positioned close enough to the log burner to feel the warmth, but not too close that we’d be sweltering within minutes!
Strawberry Moon has an extensive menu offering hot and cold food, including toasted sandwiches, jacket potatoes, hot filled rolls, light bites and larger main meals. The café also has a selection of cakes and desserts.
We both ordered a cappuccino (£2.95) and chose the same meal from the menu - Halloumi & Sweet Red Pepper hot roll (£8.25) which came with a side salad and coleslaw. We also ordered a side of chunky chips (£1.50) each.
We had to wait a little while for our food, but considering the café was bustling with friends, families and couples, this was understandable.

The food was worth the wait, as the hot roll was absolutely delicious. The bread roll was soft and the vegan mayonnaise that came inside the roll was yummy and had just the right amount.
My only problem with the roll was the sweet red pepper was slightly hard, as though it needed to be grilled for a little longer. It was full of flavour, though, and complimented the halloumi perfectly.
As for the chips, they were spot on - fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Side salads can usually be quite bland, however I thoroughly enjoyed Strawberry Moon’s, as it tasted fresh and came with a delicious dressing.

It’s not often you visit a coastal café and there's a large choice of alcoholic drinks. Although we didn’t have alcohol this time around, it’s nice to know we can head to Strawberry Moon when we're fancying a casual light bite and a G&T.
Given Strawberry Moon's rural location, relaxed atmosphere and variety of food and drink, it really is a hidden gem!
