A "hidden gem" Liverpool restaurant is handing out free pasta to celebrate World Pasta Day today, October 25.
This year is the 27th annual World Pasta Day, with city centre restaurant Pasta 51 Express giving away thousands of portions of pasta in celebration.
The handmade pasta venue, which serves up Italian street food, has teamed up with Napolina, the UK's number one Italian cooking brand, and Flipdish, a leading online ordering platform, to hand out 2,551 portions of freshly made pasta to locals and tourists visiting the new store at 51 Whitechapel.

To secure a free artisan pasta cone, you can pre-order from Pasta 51's website or visit Flipdish, register and pop in to the store between 12pm and 6.30pm today.
Food will be given out on a first come, first served basis.
Italian owner Attilio Sergi - also known as the “pasta masta'' from Puglia - and his team have been working in the kitchen from early this morning to create their signature pastas and slow-cooked sauces from scratch.
The pasta is made with durum wheat flour and water, and the handpicked ripened tomatoes from Nepolina are grown on the sun-drenched Puglian slopes, for a rich and intense flavour.
The authentically Italian pasta is served in a recyclable cone to create a sustainable dining experience. Pasta 51 is the only Italian street food brand making fresh pasta and sauces every day.
Customers who return after World Pasta Day can bag 20% off their next order when ordering directly from the restaurant.
Founder Attilio Sergi said: "Pasta is a dish traditionally served in a seated restaurant, but Pasta 51 Express is changing this. Why should you not be able to enjoy handmade, fresh Italian pasta on the go? And why has Italian street food not had its moment yet?
