'Hidden gem' Bristol restaurant replaces curry house as best takeaway option on Tripadvisor

There's a new restaurant at the top of Tripadvisor's takeaway rankings in Bristol - and it might take one or two people by surprise.

Delivery and click-and-collect services have surged in popularity since the start of the second lockdown and that is likely to continue, with experts predicting Bristol is heading into tier three of lockdown restrictions.

While Tripadvisor is by no means the only way of deciding where you should order your next takeaway from, it is a useful tool when it comes to discovering highly-rated options.

And after a flurry of glowing reviews, there is a new restaurant sitting pretty in top spot.

The top 10 is dominated by curry houses and indeed the highest position was previously held by Indian Rassasy in Hotwells.

But the new number one delivery restaurant offers something entirely different.

Baba Ganoush serves authentic vegan and vegetarian traditional Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, specialising in falafel, wraps, mezze plates and fresh juice.

It has a total of 106 reviews on Tripadvisor with 105 of them five stars and the one other four stars.

On top of this it's also rated as the second best restaurant in Bristol overall out of 1,149 establishments listed on the website, with Pipal Tree at number one.

Recent reviews have praised Baba Ganoush's "kind, smiley, warm people" behind the counter and "delicious, healthy, homemade food at an affordable price".

Another impressed visitor wrote: "This place feels like a 'hidden gem' for those in the know, almost too good to share, but because they are so great I wish them every success.

"I've had falafel and halloumi wraps and salads, also fresh juice. So yummy. I'd really like to try the baklava next time."

Baba Ganoush is delivering on Deliveroo.
