Hidden cocktail bar pops up in industrial loft in Finnieston for Cop26

A secret pop-up cocktail bar has opened near Cop26 – and it’s celebrating all things sustainability.

Seventy Five Point Five Steps is a new hidden hang-out in a disused industrial space overlooking the Finnieston district – a coworking space by day and a cocktail bar by night.

You can pop in for a coffee during the day and use their free WiFi or come for some after-work drinks, with industry panels discussing climate issues and food and drink and art displays highlighting the work of local makers.

The bar, which seats 90, has gone down a treat with creatives and activists in the area looking for a place to relax, recharge and socialise during the climate summit.

Creative agency The Drinks Cabinet teamed up with local bar operator and event producer Willie Tombe to take over the MacCallum building for Cop26. They're showcasing small and homegrown firms with green values, such as using foraged ingredients or reducing their carbon footprint.

Marketing manager Caitlin said: “The second we saw the space we signed on the dotted line. It’s a really cool industrial warehouse space. A lot of locals have asked whether it has always been here – it’s a true hidden gem.

“We focus on being sustainable and working with brands that reflect that and we’ll change the menu each day, what ingredients we have and what brands we want to showcase. For example, we used a sustainable olive oil to make fat-washed vodka for tomorrow night, or brands that use foraged ingredients. Or we used Dear Green Place for espresso martinis.”

Walk up the 75 and a half stairs and you’ll find yourself in a spacious, stripped back room. Drinks are priced between £6-£8 with classic cocktails, beers and natural wine to suit every taste.

“It’s new, and different with a community feel – not a polished cocktail bar. It’s a collaborative project between brands and artists – and we want to offer somewhere with that Glaswegian charm. It’s really exciting.”

Seventy Five Point Five Steps is at the MacCallum Building in 71 Houldsworth Street and is open from noon until midnight until November 25. Follow them on Instagram.
