Videos taken by hidden camera of women passengers getting on and off a taxi motorcycle and posted online by the rider have sparked consternation.
On May 29, the Facebook page "Rider Rai Wa Rai Nia" shared screenshots from the videos, with the comment, “What you see may be nothing, but we believe there are more videos that haven't been uploaded.”
The rider had reportedly uploaded multiple video clips to TikTok, taken using a discreetly placed dashcam angled upward. They featured school and university students getting on and off the motorcycle. (continues below)
While the account featured recordings of a variety of passengers, the videos that drew the most attention were those that appeared to reveal areas under the skirts of female passengers.
The post triggered a quick backlash online, with many people condemning the recordings as a violation of privacy and a form of sexual harassment, and anger that some of the photographed passengers appeared to be minors.
The page administrator also questioned the rider's motive, “If this were your child, how would you feel? What was the person filming this thinking? What has been posted may not show everything, but I believe there are other videos that do.”
In the wake of the public outcry, the rider has since uploaded a public apology video, saying it will not happen again.
