WACO, Texas _ The Horned Frogs (5-4, 3-3 Big 12) came into McLane Stadium Saturday in the bottom half of the Big 12 in rushing yardage, at 166.6 yards per game on the ground. But running back Kyle Hicks led the TCU stampede to over 400 rushing yards in the Frogs' 62-22 win against their bitter rival Baylor.
Hicks finished with 192 yards and a career-high five touchdown runs on 26 carries. It was the first time this year that TCU provided Hicks more than 20 carries. Quarterback Kenny Hill ran for 85 yards and went 17-of-30 for 244 yards and a touchdown through the air.
After getting burned for an 81-yard touchdown pass down the sideline on the game's second play from scrimmage, cornerback Ranthony Texada and the TCU defense turned in a big performance, as well. Texada ran back a 28-yard interception return for a touchdown with 10:37 left in the first half to put the Horned Frogs up 31-7 at the time. It was TCU's first interception from the cornerback position since Texada's pick in a 2014 matchup with Iowa State.
The rest of the defense held true, sacking Baylor quarterback Seth Russell three times and holding him to a manageable 22 of 42 passing for 282 yards and one touchdown through the air. Russell ran for the other two touchdowns for Baylor (6-2, 3-2).
