Hibs v Motherwell: Referee confirmed for Premiership clash at Easter Road

The referee for Hibernian's clash with Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership this weekend has been confirmed.

Greg Aitken will take charge of the fixture after officiating just one of the men in green and white's matches last season.

The 43-year-old whistler oversaw Hibs' Betfred Cup group stage tie with Stirling Albion last summer.

That game finished 1-1 with the Hibees avoiding an upset courtesy of Scott Allan's penalty before going on to win the post-match shootout to pick up a bonus point.

Aitken was remarkably card happy in his seven Premiership fixtures last season, handing out a total of 29 yellows and two reds over the course of the season.

His last game prior to Scottish football's coronavirus-induced season halt came in the 1-1 draw between Dunfermline Athletic and Queen of the South at East End Park in a Championship clash.

Jack Ross's side can equal Hibs ' best start to a season in 46 years with a win, taking their total to four on the bounce.

That will match the achievements of Eddie Turnbull's 1974/75 squad, who took maximum points from their opening four matches before going on to finish the season in second place.
