Hibs v Hamilton red card overturned as SFA disciplinary panel reneges on dismissal

Hamilton Accies defender Jamie Hamilton has had his red card for a challenge on Hibernian's Martin Boyle overturned by the SFA disciplinary panel.

Hibs boss Jack Ross admitted the dismissal handed out for the young stopper's tackle on the Australian international was "surprising".

Boyle would go on to net the opener moments later to set the hosts on their way to a 2-0 win, with Josh Doig adding a second after the interval.

Accies boss Brian Rice confirmed the club would appeal the card after the game following an angry exchange on the touchline with Hibs assistant John Potter.

And the SFA panel has now reneged on the initial decision of match official Craig Napier by reducing the punishment to a yellow card.

An Accies statement read: "Hamilton Academical FC is pleased with the decision taken by Scottish FA Judicial Panel to overturn the red card issued to defender Jamie Hamilton during our Premiership match against Hibernian.

"We would like to thank the panel for their swift and appropriate decision and can now confirm the initial decision has been overturned to a yellow card. We now consider the matter to be dealt with as we look ahead to our upcoming matches.

"Jamie is available for selection for our next match against St Johnstone.

"We will be making no further comment on the matter.
