Hibs v Celtic: Visitors without key man for Easter Road trip but duo set to return

Christopher Jullien will be unavailable for Celtic's trip to Hibernian, but Jeremie Frimpong should play after fears he suffered ankle ligament damage against Motherwell.

Norwegian duo Kristoffer Ajer and Mohamed Elyounoussi were given the all clear to play at Easter Road after the COVID-19 quarantine scare that saw them grounded in Oslo while on international duty.

But the visitors' French centre half is set to miss out after failing to recover from back injury in time for Saturday's Premiership clash.

Frimpong limped out of the 4-1 win at Fir Park and was sent for scans amid concerns he could be on the sidelines for a prolonged period of time.

Ajer is also set to return after picking up an injury in the 2-2 draw with Lille in the Europa League and should be available for selection against Jack Ross' men.

Celtic are winless in their last five in Leith and go into the game nine points off league leaders Rangers, albeit with two games in hand.

Former Hibs boss Lennon said: "Jeremie is fine, there's no ligament damage and he's been back training for a few weeks now.

"On Jullien, maybe not for tomorrow but definitely for next week, whether it be Sparta (Prague) or Ross County in the cup. He has just started training the last few days. He is feeling good but tomorrow is probably too soon for him.

"We’ve got a massive run of games now. It’s good to have a healthy squad, and introduce some players back. If we can pick up where we left off, I’ll be pleased. Tomorrow’s important and it’s a game we’re looking forward to."
