Hibs troll Hearts as they exact revenge for Jack Ross statement dig with 'noisy neighbours' slap down

Hibs made sure revenge is a dish best served cold as they trolled rivals Hearts in the aftermath of their 2-0 Edinburgh derby win.

Jack Ross' side bounced back after their defeat to their city foes earlier this season thanks to Martin Boyle's deadly double in the first half.

And Hibs had one more body blow to deliver the struggling Jambos as they slapped them down with a cutting full-time tweet, which was in response Hearts' dig when Daniel Stendel was appointed.

It read: "Our new head coach, Jack Ross, leads Hibernian to victory over Daniel Stendel's Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle Park.

"Purely for context, we are 13 points ahead of our noisy neighbours."

Hearts poked fun at Ross when announcing former Barnsley boss Stendel earlier this month but will be regretting it now.

The German was a smash-hit at Oakwell and his side were able to pip then Sunderland boss to promotion from League One and that success was prominent in the club's official announcement.

Hearts statement read: "Having been relegated prior to his arrival, Daniel immediately turned round their fortunes, leading the Oakwell outfit to a second-placed finish ahead of Jack Ross’ Sunderland, and securing promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking."
