Hibs transfer update: Reports suggest top midfield target undergoing medical after bid accepted

Hibernian are reportedly in advanced talks with St Mirren midfielder Kyle Magennis over a move to Easter Road - despite the Buddies insistence the player was "not for sale".

The 22-year-old midfielder is allegedly undergoing a medical at East Mains with a view to inking a deal worth a six-figure fee, according to the Daily Record .

It is the third bid lodged by the Easter Road club for his services this week after having the previous offer thrown out.

St Mirren released a statement on Monday revealing they had knocked back a 'substantial' bid, with the Paisley outfit stating they "had no intention of selling".

That position was backed up by Buddies boss Jim Goodwin on Wednesday, who said it would be "wrong" for the club to accept an offer after helping to guide him through his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury suffered in January.

But Hibs appear to have hit the magic number required for Saints to approve the sale, with Magennis now being put through his paces in East Lothian.

Jack Ross handed the Scotland under-21 cap his debut as an 18-year-old in a 2-0 defeat at Easter Road while he was Buddies boss in October 2016 and the player is out of contract at the end of the season.

Ross has so far been frustrated in his attempts to bolster his midfield ranks after the men in green and white missed out on Ross McCrorie and Scott Fraser during the transfer window,

Magennis has made more than 100 appearances for the Paisley outfit, lifting the Championship title with Ross in 2018 and was ever-present for Jim Goodwin's side last season before injury.
