Hibernian are not actively pursuing a move for Ross County target man Ross Stewart - despite suggestions the two sides are locked in negotiations over the player.
The Easter Road outfit were among a number of clubs showing an interest in the 11-goal forward in January, but a deal could not be reached.
The Daily Record reported Hibs had reignited their interest in the striker.
But Edinburgh Live understands the 23-year-old does not feature on the shortlist of manager Jack Ross or sporting director Graeme Mathie.
Dunfermline Athletic forward Kevin Nisbet is thought to be one of the club's top targets.
Stewart is reportedly on the radar of Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough and Stoke City after scoring 11 times in 23 appearances for the Dingwall side last season.
However, manager Stuart Kettlewell has warned the striker will not be allowed to leave on the cheap, despite having just a year left on his deal in the Highlands.
Ross is keen to add to his forward line following the end of Marc McNulty's loan spell from Reading and the imminent departure of Florian Kamberi.
Welsh hitman Christian Doidge and youngster Jamie Gullan are currently the only recognised strikers at the club.
Kamberi is likely to leave amid interest in the Swiss-born forward from across Europe, with the Hibees thought to be in talks with at least one club over a move.
Nisbet is seen as a direct replacement, but Hibs face competition for his signature from Premiership rivals Dundee United and clubs in England and Italy.
