Hibs transfer update as Kevin Nisbet and Ryan Porteous subject to English Championship bids

Hibernian have received offers from English Championship sides for Kevin Nisbet and Ryan Porteous.

The Scottish Sun reports Birmingham City have tabled a £2 million offer for striker Nisbet, nearly ten times what the men in green and white paid for the 13-goal forward in the summer.

Porteous meanwhile is interesting Millwall, who have made a £1m bid for the Scotland under-21 international.

Hibs have not accepted either bid at this stage, but are understood to be considering the offers.

Manager Jack Ross assured the green and white faithful no offers had been received for his star players following the defeat to Rangers on Wednesday.

The Easter Road boss also said the club was under “no duress” to sell players during the window amid reported interest from a slew of Premier League heavyweights in teenage full back Josh Doig.

Nisbet had attracted admiring glances from Sheffield United and Sunderland in recent weeks, but the Black Cats appear to have moved on to other targets amid rumours of a bid for Ross County striker Ross Stewart.

Aitor Karanka however is still interested in bringing the 23-year-old to St Andrew’s after the former Partick Thistle trainee made the effortless step up from the Championship into Scottish football’s top flight, netting 11 league goals so far.

Porteous received a call up to Steve Clarke's Scotland squad last year, though is yet to win a senior cap.

He has been a long-term target for Gary Rowett’s side, with the Millwall boss seeking to add youth to his squad following an injury to centre half Murray Wallace.

Hibs are yet to respond to either offer and may choose to hold their water until Monday’s transfer deadline before making a decision.

Ross’ side face Dundee United on Saturday.
