Hibs transfer news as Rangers offer loan swap involving Florian Kamberi and Greg Docherty

Rangers have moved to bring Hibernian striker Florian Kamberi back to the club on loan - with Greg Docherty returning to Easter Road as part of the deal.

The Swiss-born forward has been persona non grata at Easter Road since making controversial comments over a “dream” loan move to Ibrox in January.

He has since returned to training with Jack Ross' side, with the Hibs boss conceding talks had taken place between player and club to resolve his long term future had taken place.

That could lie back along the M8, with popular midfielder Docherty coming back to Leith on a season-long temporary deal after the coronavirus outbreak halted his previous spell.

The Daily Record and Edinburgh Evening News both report that Rangers have approached Hibs with the offer.

The former Hamilton Academical midfielder scored three times in eight appearances for the men in green and white before the season was curtailed by the pandemic and impressed the Easter Road faithful with his dynamic performances in the centre of the pitch.

Kamberi managed one goal in nine appearances for Rangers during his loan spell.

Hibs were believed to have held talks with at least one club over Kamberi's transfer, with any deal set to be completed in instalments.

It was reported clubs in Cyprus, England, Germany, Poland and Turkey were considering a move for the striker.

Hull City allegedly had their move for the forward knocked back by the Easter Road club, while fellow Championship outfit Brentford, Swiss club FC Basel and Polish outfit Lech Poznan have also been credited with an interest in the past.

Earlier in the summer, it was reported Rangers had ended their interest in signing the player on a permanent deal and were pursuing other targets.

But the door could now be open for Kamberi to return to the club, albeit on a temporary agreement.
