Hibs transfer latest on Matt Macey's exit to Luton Town and Aiden McGeady pursuit

Matt Macey will reportedly finalise his move from Hibs to English Championship outfit Luton Town later today in a five-figure deal that will reach close to £100,000 with add ons.

The 27-year-old is on his way out at Easter Road after 18 months and over 50 appearances. The former Arsenal man established himself as the first choice goalkeeper at the club last season but Lee Johnson has recruited Scotland international and ex- Celtic keeper David Marshall this summer and the giant shotstopper will now move on for a new challenge.

He spent a period on loan at the Hatters back in 2017 from the Gunners and will now return on a permanent basis five years on. His new club finished sixth in England's second tier last season but suffered play-off semi-final heartbreak against Huddersfield Town as they gear up for another season of chasing the English Premier League dream.

The Daily Record also report that negotiations for Aiden McGeady are ongoing as the former Republic of Ireland international edges closer to a free transfer to Easter Road.

The 36-year-old - who is well known in Scotland for his time at Celtic - left Sunderland at the end of the season and is said to be keen on a return north of the border to be reunited with his former Black Cats boss Lee Johnson.

The new gaffer, who replaced Shaun Maloney at the helm in the capital, has already been active in the transfer market as he bids to turn fortunes around.

Hibs suffered a poor campaign by their own standards last season after finishing in the bottom six of the table.

The Leith outfit are back in pre-season training as they gear up for a return to competitive action in just over two weeks.

They kick off their Premier Sports Cup group stage campaign with a home clash against Clyde as the Hibees faithful will get a first glimpse at Johnson's new look side.

Falkirk, Bonnyrigg Rose and Greenock Morton make up the rest of the section before the new Scottish Premiership campaign kicks off at the end of July.
