Hibs to introduce mobile ticketing as part of extended Ticketmaster partnership

Hibs have introduced mobile ticketing for the upcoming Betfred Cup ties at home to Alloa Athletic and Arbroath.

The club have extended their partnership with Ticketmaster, and will be introducing a number of improvements to the ticketing process for games at Easter Road .

Season ticket holders will still get their traditional card, which they will receive this month.

New scanners have been introduced at every turnstile in the stadium, while a new online queueing system for high demand games that will be integrated with the Hibs eTicketing site.

Fans buying online can also use an improved stadium map and check out the view from their seat before purchasing.

Chief executive Leeann Dempster said the move was part of “future proofing” the club’s investment in infrastructure. “Mobile ticketing outside of football has been commonplace at airports and other environments for a period of time already, and football is now catching up across the UK,” she explained.

“We know some supporters have been using their mobile devices to scan bar codes, but this is the first time we’ll be able to offer a purpose-designed method for supporters to access the stadium via their mobile phone.

“New scanners were trialled at matches towards the end of last season with positive results, and we are confident this will improve the entry process.

“The new online queuing system should also make the process for purchasing tickets for high demand matches better. We can’t control the number to tickets available to us, but the experience of waiting to purchase should be much better than before, saving supporters time and minimising frustration.

“The improvements will be rolled out gradually over the coming months but we are confident that we will have an enhanced ticketing experience for all our supporters.”
