Hibs team v Ross County predicted as Jack Ross weighs up Joe Newell decision

Joe Newell should return to Hibernian’s squad for the trip to Ross County while Jackson Irvine has recovered from a shoulder issue to line up against his former club.

The Easter Road side reignited their European charge with three wins in the space of seven days culminating in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Aberdeen which put daylight between the Easter Road side and their closest challengers for third in the Scottish Premiership.

Jack Ross will likely have a near-full team to pick from with no immediate injury concerns - though whether the Hibs boss decides to make any changes to the formula that has won nine points from nine over the past three league outings remains to be seen.

Newell has not played since the 1-1 draw with Celtic last month after suffering a groin issue that forced him off in the second half of that encounter.

A return for the trip to Dundee United a fortnight ago was aborted at the last minute when he aggravated the injury in training.

However, he has gone through the pre-match preparations at a chilly East Mains without any issues and will be in the travelling party heading up to Dingwall on Friday evening.

Irvine limped out of Saturday’s win over The Dons after an awkward landing during a midfield tangle but Ross confirmed after the game that there were no serious issues arising from that challenge - assuaging fears of a dislocation.

Predicted line up

Kevin Nisbet and Ryan Porteous may have to continue to be patient in awaiting their returns to Ross’s starting XI as Hibs look to make it four wins on the bounce.

Martin Boyle moved to within two league strikes of the Hibees’ current top scorer after four goals in his last three games and will likely partner Christian Doidge up front again.

Irvine and Gogic should start in a central pairing with the energetic Chris Cadden and Josh Doig on either side.

Darren McGregor has slotted effortlessly into what was a settled back three and will line up again alongside Paul Hanlon and Paul McGinn.

Predicted line up in full: Marciano, McGregor, Hanlon, McGinn, Doig, Cadden, Gogic, Irvine, Murphy, Boyle, Doidge
